In chapter five, Carraway comes from back from dinner with Jordan. He notices that Gatsby's mansion is well lit, but there is no party. While Carraway is walking home, Gatsby comes across his lawn and they begin speaking. For some odd reason, it seems that Gatsby is trying to please Carraway. Gatsby intent for this is to get Carraway to have Daisy come over for tea at Gatsby house. He offers Carraway an opportunity to get involved in some work with him, and for someone to cut his lawn. Carraway got Daisy to come over to his house, when they reunite, it was strange but Gatsby invited the two back to is mansion. Gatsby and Daisy seem to be romantically rekindled, that they have forgotten he was in the room, so Carraway leaves the room.
