In chapter three, the reader is more informed about Jay Gatsby. Carraway goes to one of Gatsby parties, however this wasn't just an ordinary party, Carraway was formally invited by Gatsby himself. Usually, people just show up and Gatsby He describes this party luxurious and enjoyable, everyone talked about Gatsby wealth. Gatsby is describes as someone who stands in the background, which is very uncommon for his life-style. Usually, people with his life-style would want to be socialize with everyone at the party rather than be behind the scenes. During the party, Carraway and Jordan Baker were very curious about Gatsby background since they heard all these rumors about him. For example, that Gatsby killed someone. Later during the party, Carraway finds out that both him and Gatsby served in the military together. After Gatsby and Carraway's conversation, Baker asks Carraway if he was having a "Gay" time. This could be a clue to Carraway sexuality.
